Totem Lake

Totem Lake is located in the northeast corner of Kirkland's city limits. Most Eastside residents know Totem Lake for its mall, which is found just off Interstate 405. For years, with its major retail outlets, this has served as a destination for shoppers; you will find everything from clothing retailers to auto dealers to restaurants here. Also located nearby is the well-respected Evergreen Hospital and Medical Center, a mega-complex that serves the Eastside.

And, yes, there is actually a Totem Lake in the area, though its size more closely resembles a pond. It is found just east of Totem Lake Mall in a wetlands preserve. Not many people know about Totem Lake; in fact, ask any Eastsider what Totem Lake is and they'll probably mention the general area itself, or the mall. The Totem Lake Wetland Trails take you through the forest and wetland grass that surround the lake.
